This course will probably be slightly different from courses you may have taken before – we hope you find it useful.

The purpose is to help you understand the issues around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, why they’re important, and also how they may affect you as an individual.

You can work through the course in whichever way suits you.

Use the menu at the top of the page to go to the different sections.

What to expect from each section

Video/Transcript

The video presentations are the heart of the course. The videos are:

  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Diversion and Inclusion (this goes much deeper into Diversity and Inclusion issues).
  • Unconscious Bias
  • Vulnerable Customers (customers can also be internal ie colleagues)
  • Reporting Bullying and Harassment

You can either watch the video or read the transcript below or watch the video and read the captions.

The videos are broken down into sections so you can jump to key places if you want to.

Key Facts

This section is included so that you can quickly refresh your memory of the key facts. Maybe you’ve done a course before and just want to go over some of the main areas, or you want to look up a particular point.

Activities

This includes discussion points, an activity and also some resources to help if you have to report bullying or harassment.

The discussion points can be reflected on individually or discussed in small groups or workshops.

Related topics

There are a lot of issues that are related to this topic, and some of the key ones are mentioned here. For example, the difference in the use of the words ‘equity’ and ‘equality’.

The Quiz

You can take the quiz at any time. The pass mark is 80% and each question scores the same i.e. there are no points awarded for partially correct answers.

There are 10 questions which are randomly drawn from various ‘pools’ of questions.

Some questions are fairly straightforward and others require you to apply what you know. In some cases it may be necessary to eliminate answers that are obviously wrong in order to get to the right answer.

Questions are based mainly on the information that is presented in the video and transcript, but information from other sections is also included.

Once you have completed the quiz you can see which questions you got right and wrong, and the responses you gave will show in light blue.
